WMUBroncos.com—Official Web: Haldeman Named to Groza Award Watch List
– Western Michigan football senior Andrew Haldeman has been identified for the 2015 Lou Groza Award Watch List, given annually to the nation’s top kicker.
Moore connected on field goal attempts from 47, 44 and 42 yards out against the Mustangs on a day UNT rolled to a 43-6 win.
That performance earned the ex- Edmond North standout a long list of honors, most notably from Sports Illustrated, which named Moore a freshman All-American. The Groza Committee will be watching all FBS kickers during the season, and releasing a weekly “Stars of the Week” feature on www.lougrozaaward.com. Although an All-Pro offensive lineman as well, Groza ushered in the notion that there should be a place on an National Football League roster for a kicker.
Twenty semifinalists for the Groza Award will be announced November 5 and three finalists on November 23.
MacGinnis set a United Kingdom record, led the Southeastern Conference and was tops among all freshmen with 21 field goals last season. The victor of the 2015 Lou Groza Award will be announced as part of the Home Depot College Football Awards Show held on December 10.
Fairbairn is sixth on the all-time school field goal list with 48, fifth in career scoring with 306 points and is the first UCLA player to score over 100 points in three straight seasons, according to UCLA Athletics.
Earlier this summer, MacGinnis was named first-team Preseason All-SEC by Phil Steele College Football. The victor will be announced on December 10, a week after the Pac-12 championship game.
