WNIJ’s Gas Price Monday
A number of factors could cause gas prices to rise again, AAA reported Monday.
Nebraska- $2.22/g, down 2.2 cents per gallon from last week’s $2.24/g.
State of Tennessee- $1.96, down 4.7 cents per gallon from last week’s $2.01. That’s the longest streak since September of previous year, and are at their lowest mark for this date since 2004.
Only 12 percent of USA stations are selling gas for more than $2.50 per gallon today.
Gas prices continue to drop in most parts of the country due to abundant fuel supplies and declining crude oil costs, according to the latest AAA Fuel Gauge Report. “And we are struck by the fact that prices are lower than Memorial Day, reversing the traditional trend of, more often than not, higher prices over the summer”.
What might be Californias lowest price on July 15 is $2.269, spotted by GasBuddy at a supermarket and two big box stores in Sacramento.
Statewide, prices averaged $2.14 a gallon, down 4.2 cents per gallon from last week’s $2.18 a gallon. Prices Monday morning lowered and were briefly below $45 per barrel.
Prices at the pump can vary substantially, even within the Houston area. The nation’s least expensive markets are SC at $1.93 per gallon, Oklahoma and MS at $2 and Missouri $2.01, AAA said. Eight years ago, the average price for regular was closing in on the all-time high of $4.11, set on July 17, 2008. The cheapest gasoline is in Champaign-Urbana, at $1.96/gallon.
