Woman banned from flight after chugging bottle of cognac at gate
A Chinese plane passenger who was told she wasn’t allowed to board with a £125 bottle of Cognac was then deemed too drunk to fly after downing all the alcohol.
When told the bottle was not permitted as hand luggage and that she would have to leave it behind, she proceeded to drink the whole thing.
The woman, who is being identified only by her surname of Zhao, was allegedly seen rolling about on the floor of Beijing Capitol worldwide Airport, according to the Beijing Times.
The passenger downed the bottle at about midday after being informed she could not take it on board. After completing the requisite screaming, passing out, and waking up in a hospital, Miss Zhao “thanked police for taking care of her” and was released to her family.
While transferring to a domestic flight at the Beijing Capital worldwide Airport on August 21 at around noon, she was stopped by security officials, as passengers in China aren’t allowed to bring more than 100ml of liquids in their carry-on bags. “We needed to take her away in a wheelchair”, police said.
The plane’s captain made a decision to ban her from the flight for safety reasons, police said.
Zhao is not the first passenger to make headlines for her pre-flight chugging.
The woman then slept and reportedly did not sober up until about 19:00.
