Woman charged in Vancouver homicide
A 23-year-old woman has been charged with second-degree murder after a deadly fight that started in a Downtown Eastside rooming house.
A tarp and yellow police evidence markers sit behind a dumpster, where at about 3:30 a.m., a man was found unconscious and covered in blood near Station Street and National Avenue.
Montague says detectives with the major crimes section believe the man was involved in a few sort of dispute in a nearby rooming house and the altercation continued on the street. The 31-year-old man was rushed to hospital in critical condition but did not survive his injuries. Police have taken several people of interest into custody to interview.
Sadie Taniskishayinew will stay in custody until her next court appearance on Tuesday.
“He left the building followed by the suspect and was attacked on the street shortly after”, Montague said.
The victim’s name is not being released until the confirmation of his identity and the notification of family.
Police say the victim and accused did not previously know each other and the attack was unprovoked.
