Woman dies as vehicle ploughs into coffee shop in Kent
A South East Coast ambulance service spokesperson said while there were “a number of patients with potentially serious injuries”, they could not confirm any fatalities.
Police, ambulance and fire services rushed to the scene in Westerham following the crash which occurred around 10.30am in the high street area of the town.
All emergency services – including an air ambulance – were called to the scene to help the victims.
The vehicle was reportedly seen clipping cars coming from the direction of Oxted before plunging through the Costa windows of its side entrance in London Road.
Some of those who were injured are believed to have been seriously hurt.
“I think there was an elderly couple who were hit by the auto”.
A woman living nearby said it sounded “like a bomb had gone off”.
A witness centre has also been set up at The Grasshopper pub in The Green and anyone with information is asked to visit the centre and speak to officers.
“Centre of Westerham now all closed off”.
