Woman Fatally Mauled by Tiger, Another Injured, at Badaling WIldlife Park
The attack took place at Beijing Badaling Wildlife World on Saturday.
According to Daily Mail, a child that was also in the vehicle escaped the incident unharmed.
A female tourist has been killed and another man and woman injured after they were mauled by tigers while on a safari tour at Badaling Wildlife Park in Beijing at the weekend.
It then attacked her and dragged her off, prompting the second woman to leave the vehicle in an attempt to help.
It is reported that park staff rushed to the scene to help the victims, but they were only able to save one of them.
As the vehicle travelled through the Siberian tiger garden area, there was an “altercation” between the young woman and man who was driving.
As she walks to the driver’s side door and opens it, a tiger suddenly attacks her from behind and drags her off. The park has been ordered to close for “rectification”.
Visitors are prohibited from departing their vehicles precisely because the animals the are so risky, a point that was reiterated by the local Yanqing district government in a Weibo post.
The younger woman is in hospital with serious injuries and the park has been closed while authorities investigate the incident.
A security guard was reportedly mauled to death at the park by a tiger in 2014, reports said.
