Woman Hospitalized After Art Basel Miami Beach Stabbing

Dramatic video captured by a bystander and uploaded to Instagram this morning captures a man being shot by Miami Beach Police officers in the middle of Alton Road.

Luckily for the victim, once police were finally called, they were swift in apprehending the stabber and shuttling the victim to safety at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami and she is expected to survive. The person said, “People thought it was a fight or performance art”.

“It’s a frightful, it’s an isolated incident and it’s tragic for everybody involved”, Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine said.

An alleged video of the incident has circulated widely on social media, though it remains unconfirmed by police officials.

After the shooting, which occurred in front of the barber shop, witnesses gave conflicting accounts that officers also had fired a Taser on the man. Police could not immediately verify whether officers fired a Taser during the encounter.

“Shots were fired, and the subject is deceased”, the police said in a statement, according to the Miami News Times. Then the shirtless suspect, who was holding was holding some kind of knife, took a step forward and was shot. A scream can be heard.

“I thought a piece of art fell on her”, he said.
