Woman Kills Her Newborn Child After Giving Birth at Work: Addison Police
An employee of an upscale hotel in the Dallas suburb of Addison called 911 on Sunday to report a co-worker in labor in the women’s locker room, according to an arrest warrant.
The first responders weren’t able to resuscitate the infant.
Addison police say they arrested 25-year-old Luz Aurora Granados-Reyes Sunday and charged her with killing her newborn child shortly after giving birth.
Luz Granados-Reyes, 25, is now behind bars with a bond set at $500,000.
Investigators said paramedics performed CPR on the baby and transported both she and her mother to Texas Presbyterian Health Hospital in Dallas.
An Addison police spokeswoman Wednesday declined to identify the hotel or provide details about Granados-Reyes’ employment.
The Dallas County Sheriff’s office was notified that the arrest warrant was recalled and Ms. Granados-Reyes can be released.
Granados-Reyes’ attorney did not immediately respond to call seeking comment. A police spokesman said that officers are continuing to investigate the death, and are waiting on autopsy results for the child.
“They went to the locker room and found her and her baby”, Huber said.
“We all know her”, he said.
Huber said employees were “devastated” and “in shock” after being told that Granados-Reyes was accused of killing the baby.
More than 100 babies are abandoned each year in Texas.
