Woman rescued from burning auto after 10-vehicle crash
THIS is the incredible moment dashcam footage captures heroic motorists pulling a trapped woman from a burning auto after a horrific 10-car pile-up.
Ten vehicles, including a tractor trailer, were wrecked on Route 17 last Thursday.
“The woman suffered only minor cuts and bruises”, David said. Following a 10-car pileup on a local highway, they pulled an unidentified woman to safety after her auto burst into flames.
Binghamton Mayor Rich David proudly posted the dashcam footage to his own Facebook page Monday.
You can see a semi truck plow into the back of ten cars waiting in traffic and a white auto catch fire.
Dash camera video uploaded to the web shows the chaos that followed the incident, showing the woman being pulled from the burning auto by bystanders.
There were no fatalities from the incident, but two people have been hospitalised from serious injury.
David wrote that the city and police were attempting to identify those who helped the trapped woman escape.
“In a time of crisis, these courageous individuals navigated through flames and broken glass to save a stranger’s life. Binghamton is safer because of you”, he wrote.
Investigators say the tractor-trailer carrying stone blocks was unable to stop in time and crashed into other vehicles, contributing to the pileup. The truck was being driven by Allen Kirkpatrick, 74, from Wyalusing, Pennsylvania.
Binghamton Police Department, Binghamton Fire Department, Broome County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police were all on scene.
