Woman says Humane Society adopted out her lost dog

Lawmakers and the Humane Society announced legislation created to stop people from leaving pets in vehicles.
According to city ordinance, shelters are required to hang onto dogs for 72 hours, unless that dog is under four months, in which case it can go out immediately.
But Max had no leash, no microchip, and no collar.
“I understand, you know, they love him”.
“We are a non-profit and we have a very limited budget”, said Sabrina Rodriguez De Conte, executive director of the humane society.
Because of that, the Leon County Humane Society held a donation drive at the A Loft Hotel.
The act would give police officers, emergency crews or humane officers the authority to remove a dog or cat from a vehicle if they believe the animals are suffering or in danger. The best advice they have for dog owners is to make sure it doesn’t come to that point.
Firefighters tried to initially rescue the woman, but her two dogs were acting aggressively and rescuers weren’t able to reach her, fire officials said.
