Woman slain with 2-year-old daughter was 2nd grade teacher
Hearts remain heavy Wednesday morning over the loss of a mother and her two -year-old daughter in Fort Washington.
Police tweeted Tuesday afternoon that the victims in the double homicide are 26-year-old Neshante Davis and 2-year-old Chloe Davis-Green. She was pronounced dead.
Detectives are working to identify a motive and suspect(s) in this case. Police said they arrived at the scene to find Davis on the ground and her daughter in a vehicle seat. Police say her child was found injured in a nearby auto. The police did maintain that as the investigation is ongoing, there is a limited amount of information which they can provide to the public but advised an autopsy will, of course, be conducted to determine the exact number of gunshot wounds that the woman and toddler suffered from. According to the school’s website, she taught second grade. “Everything she did, she did with extra care and attention”.
Parents described Davis to media outlets as a beloved and patient teacher and one boy says he and his classmates cried when they learned she wouldn’t be coming back.
“The notion that someone would be bold enough to take the life of a child, take the life of a young woman, and think there would not be consequences is simply unacceptable in Prince George’s County”.
“This is absolutely unacceptable in any civilized society that a child should be killed in this way”, Alsobrooks said.
PGCEA President Theresa Mitchell Dudley said of Davis’ death, “This is a great tragedy”.
