Woman Who Gave Birth Mid-Flight Deported To Taiwan, Held Responsible for
A woman who gave birth on a flight to LA has been deported back to Taiwan after it emerged she may have planned it so her child was awarded American citizenship.
The Kitchen Doc via YouTube Travelers watched as the woman, named as Jian, gave birth in the middle of a Taiwan to L.A. flight earlier this month.
The doctor who tended to the pregnant mother while she was delivering the baby girl was a co-passenger who had got on the flight from Bali.
The China Times website unveiled that the women has said that she was less than 32-weeks pregnant, but in reality, she was 36 weeks pregnant.
According to CAL regulations, healthy expectant mothers who are not yet 32 weeks pregnant or who are at least eight weeks from their due date are treated as normal passengers.
Diverting to an airport in Anchorage, Alaska cost the airline millions of (New Taiwan) dollars and affected 200 passengers, Kuomintang Legislator Lo Shu-lei claimed.
Returning to Taiwan in a different capacity, as wife of the director of the AIT along with four children, Chen said she looks forward to assisting her husband in continuing to promote Taiwan-U.S. relations and a better understanding of people of both sides.
The amount the woman could be fined, is the cost of diverting the plane.
Luckily, a doctor was on hand to deliver the baby girl at 30,000 feet.
And she kept asking attendants if the plane had entered U.S. airspace. A cottage industry has sprung up in recent years facilitating the travel of women from mainland China to the U.S.to give birth and obtain automatic American citizenship for their babies.
“Don’t give this woman… any sympathy!!!!” The premature baby is still with a family friend in Alaska in the U.S., as she is still too young to fly. Rajput told ABC News, she was informed by one of the agents that this very situation is a “political issue”…
“An entire plane had to be diverted, causing scheduling problems for all the other innocent passengers”. However, upon returning to Taiwan, she allegedly told the local authorities that her daughter had been granted US citizenship, whereas Customs and Border Protection officials have declined to confirm the reports.
According to reports, the baby is in the care of United States authorities.
