Woodward Dream Cruise recalls vintage vehicle glory days
We want to make it really easy for you to share your Woodward Dream Cruise experience.
The new Camaro, arriving this fall, will do battle with a refreshed Ford Mustang and a red hot Dodge Challenger.
Woodward Dream Cruise is finally here – a day of wall-to-wall classic vehicles, roaring engines, reminiscing and the occasional squeal of tires to thrill the thousands lining Woodward Avenue from Pontiac to Ferndale.
Its too much trouble trying to cruise on that day, he said.
Of course, in addition to official events, many people were on Wednesday just bringing lawn chairs out to Woodward Avenue, especially near 13 Mile Road in Royal Oak, and taking in the atmosphere, as plenty of impressive rides could be seen and heard cruising the strip. He used to cruise Woodward during the summers when he was in high school. “Yes, you might come and see a vehicle that’s been in the show for a number of years, but because of word-of-mouth and publicity we attract new vehicles or departments”. But I suppose the scenery will be a bit different. There have also been other viewings of the new Camaro across the U.S., but none of them were public.
Thousands of classic cars putter down Woodward while 1.5 million onlookers peruse the automobiles, with the tradition stretching back to 1995. I can envision a section dedicated to tastefully modified Mazda RX-7s, Subaru Imprezas, Toyota Supras, Acura NSXs and, since we will have passed the threshold for legalization by this point, R33 and R34 Nissan Skyline GT-Rs.
“These cars last. You can always keep restoring them…” And how could they help it? Most likely, though, people wonder if a souped-up DeLorean could break the time barrier once it hit 85 miles per hour.
I don’t feel it’s a matter of if but, a matter of when, the Land of the Rising Sun begins to invade Motor City for the iconic Woodward Dream Cruise. The Macomb Daily caught up with Gordon and Arlene Ondrisek, of Rochester Hills, almost one year after their 1965 C2 Corvette Sting Ray convertible was stolen during the 2014 Woodward Dream Cruise. Don’t miss out on everybody’s favorite annual traffic jam running between 9:00 a.m.to 9:00 p.m. It facilitates auto lovers to take their time and explore the upcoming models up close.
