World Blood Donor Day being observed on June 14

Although in some European countries, like Switzerland, the blood donation rate is nearly 100 percent, in Latin American nations it’s just 33 percent and in Mexico it is only 2.7 percent. Blood is also vital for treating the wounded during emergencies of all kinds (natural disasters, accidents, armed conflicts, etc.) and has an essential, life-saving role in maternal and perinatal care.
