The magazine provided a flawless diversion for the internet’s Benghazi-adled minds with the ultimate quandary: if you could travel back in time, would you kill an infant Adolf Hitler? The response was a mixed basket. Twenty-eight percent said they were unsure whether they would kill a baby or not.

Well, it turns out that you thought wrong, because the majority of respondents to an NYT Magazine survey about infanticide said that yes, they would totally kill a baby.

Those who waded into the Friday afternoon distraction stayed for the banter, which delivered a few gold.

The question itself came from the research and analytics department of the magazine. But the magazine now wanted a question that was a bit more personal, peculiar and off beat. “It’s a fun way to get a little more sense of who our readers are”, he said. The magazine’s editor-in-chief, Silverstein explained to CNNMoney why this particular question was approved when usually the magazine poses questions that are less weighty such as “How many times have you been in love” and “How much of the Bible have you read”.
