Wrestler Narsingh Yadav’s food spiked, suspect identified

A day after Narsingh failed the dope test, his roommate Sandeep Tulsi Yadav at SAI (Sports Authority of India), Sonepat, also tested positive for the same substance. Meanwhile, Narsingh’s replacement Rana has already flown to Georgia where he will train with the Indian wrestling team for the remaining part of their training stint before the Rio Games.

Following this, Narsingh was handed a provisional suspension.

26-year-old Narsingh, a bronze medallist at the 2015 World Championship, was a top contender in the 74kg freestyle category and one of the country’s medal prospects.

The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has sent the name of Parveen Rana in the 74 category in case Narsingh Yadav failed to get exoneration from the doping charge. Otherwise, wrestler Parveen Rana has been announced as Yadav’s replacement.

The wrestler’s food supplements have reportedly been found to be clean in tests conducted since his allegations.

Narsingh, who has been provisionally suspended as of now, will get a chance to prove his innocence when he faces the National Anti Doping Agency (NADA) disciplinary panel on Wednesday. Narsingh won the Wrestling Federation of India’s vote and was named by the governing body, much to the disappointment of Sushil, who launched a tirade at his junior. NADA has been been educating athletes about doping, even after this if something has happened than law will take it’s own course.
