In a press conference held later, Miss Philippines has said that she thought it was her destiny to win and that she felt bad for Miss Colombia.
In a tweet that was later removed, he added: “This was a terribly honest human mistake”.
For her winning answer, the 26-year-old Filipina beauty said she wants to use her voice to influence the youth and raise awareness on certain issues like HIV if she wins the crown.
Mario Lopez, a former host of Miss Universe, also expressed his support.
Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump was once owner of the pageant, but sold it earlier this year after he created controversy over his comments about Mexican immigrants.
