Wrongful Death Lawsuit Filed against Tony Stewart

It’s been almost two decades since Jeff Gordon won his first Sprint Cup road race. Fans reflect on Tony Stewart’s career a year after a tragic accident… “I’d love to race in the rain”. I think, after last weekend with some of the emotions getting a little high with guys, and coming into this stretch, it could be the most interesting stretch of our schedule, and it certainly could be an opportunity for someone like ourselves to gain a big chunk of points”.

“We’ve had some good success over the years and we’ve had some weekends that didn’t go so well”, said Gordon. Our goal is to win.

Bowyer eased off in the later session and was just 32nd fastest, while Allmendinger also had nothing left to prove in the second practice and was only 28th in the later timings. Qualifying will include two rounds, with all 44 cars competing in the initial 25-minute session.

He’s hoping to go to Watkins Glen on Thursday and keep his head down and avoid the reminders of the last two years. Electrical problems during the race took him out of contention.

“I’m looking forward to it”, said Stewart, who has seven top-five and 10 top-10 results at The Glen.

“There are no guarantees unless you get that win. It’s no different than a year ago”.

“I kind of laugh because everybody initially said, ‘Oh, Marcos isn’t here”. In fact he’d get a kick out of some precipitation Sunday since the cars here are equipped with windshield wipers and brake lights. It’s going to be a part of me forever.’. Any safety innovations implemented with an eye to the NASCAR weekend will also have implications for the other racing series as well. It makes it a lot of fun. I know what happened and I know it was an accident.

Busch’s recent surge includes a victory at the series’ other road course, Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway, at the end of June.

So far, Gordon has had four wins at the historic upstate New York road course – the Bud at The Glen in 1997 and 1998, the Frontier at The Glen in 1999, and the Global at The Glen race in 2001.

Sunday, the day Stewart is scheduled to run NASCAR’s road course race, is the anniversary of Ward’s death.

Kevin Ward Jr’s parents, Kevin and Pamela Ward filed the lawsuit in the 5th Judicial District for the Supreme Court of the State of New York in Lowville.

Three-time NASCAR champion Tony Stewart faces a wrongful death lawsuit from the family of a race auto driver killed past year.

Stewart has never been criminally charged for Ward’s death and was cleared by a grand jury back in September.
