WTF: Black Ops III missing many features on PS3 and 360
We’ve known for some time now that it’s being developed for multiple platforms with the caveat that visuals wouldn’t look almost as nice on the dated PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 as they will on Sony and Microsoft’s latest consoles (and on the PC).
With the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, however, publisher Activision previously revealed that only two players would be able to take on the co-op campaign simultaneously. Many assumed that the game wasn’t coming to the Xbox 360 and PS3 early on. Although sales of the PlayStation 4 has been big, Xbox One is catching up especially with the announcement that it will also become backwards compatible. Instead, we’re left in a situation where a season pass costs as much as the full game, a dreadfully unfair decision to make. Considering how many people out there buy every annual Call of Duty entry, skip story mode and exclusively play multiplayer, I don’t think this news will be shattering anyone’s dreams.
Rob Kostich, Activision’s GM of Call of Duty, said through the PlayStation Blog that their partnership with the PlayStation Nation and Treyarch was a phenomenal success. Xbox 360 and PS3 users will only need to pay $49.99 for this slimmer Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 experience. Given that the old gen version of Black Ops 3 ships with less content, it might be a good idea for Activision to lower the price.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is the next annual installment of the long-running Call of Duty series. First launching in 2005 with the release of the Xbox 360, the seventh generation of consoles ran all the way to 2012. It’s admittedly an unlikely scenario, but it will always be in the back of gamers’ minds as long as these ports come out.
