WWE Hall of Famer Mr. Fuji Passes Away
Harry Fujiwara, better known as Mr. Fuji, died Sunday, World Wrestling Entertainment reported. Professional wresting surged in popularity during this era, and he rode the wave to the top, becoming one of the more well-known presences during this flourishing time for the organization. The cause of his death was not immediately disclosed. In total, Fujiwara accumulated five WWF Tag Team Championship reigns; three with Professor Toru Tanaka and two with Masa Saito.
In 2007, he was honored with an induction into the WWE Hall of Fame.
Mr. Fuji later became a manager to big names in the industry, including Kamala, George “The Animal” Steele, Demolition, Killer Khan, Yokozuna and the Powers of Pain. Fujiwara accepted the induction in a wheelchair as nine knee operation left him disabled.
Fujiwara’s career with the WWE spanned more than 30 years, including stints as a wrestler and, later, as a manager.
He also known for spoofing pop culture, with his Fuji Vice, Fuji General, Fuji Bandito, and Fuji Vice series.
A number of former and current WWE superstars shared their memories of Fuji on social media immediately after news broke of his passing, including Natalya, whose father Jim Neidhart, was briefly managed by Fuji in 1985.
Fuji, has passed away at the age of 82. As a manager, he was known for being notorious ring side and having a trademark of throwing salt in his client’s face.
