WWE Smackdown Live Results 9/6/16

We will see the first-ever six pack challenge contest on this Sunday at the Backlash PPV to crown the first Women’s champion from the blue brand. The heels got in Becky’s face and eventually Naomi and Nikki Bella came out to even the odds.

The main thing we’re all looking forward to on SmackDown tonight is seeing what AJ Styles has to say to WWE World Champion Dean Ambrose.

Heath Slater, still without a SmackDown contract, teamed up with Rhyno to compete in the SmackDown Tag Team Championship tournament. With Orton now part of the SmackDown Live! roster along with Ryder and Hawkins, it will be interesting to see if there is some sort of confrontation between these Superstars regarding the allegations. Naomi and Natalya have been around for a while, but Nikki’s biggest competition comes from Becky Lynch, who was the first woman selected by SmackDown in the draft. Dolph Ziggler was on commentary for this match.

With Backlash approaching, AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose went for the upper hand as they engaged in a verbal, and physical battle, ahead of the title showdown. The Miz pushed a distracted Crews into Ziggler, then the ring post.

The Miz had a match with his Summerslam opponent Apollo Crews and picked up the win quite after hitting the Skull Crushing Finale. Miz instead sent Maryse to pick it up. So, all he has is one more match to win. Becky’s team cleared the ring to set up the six-woman tag match later. Carmella takes advantage to lock in the Code of Silence on the surgically repaired neck of Nikki Bella to submit the longest-reigning Divas Champion of all time. In other major developments, the final two teams for SmackDown Tag Team Championship Tournament were decided. The team of Heath Slater and Rhyno defeated the Hype Bros to advance as well-the Hype Bros and the Usos will be facing each other at “WWE Backlash” to determine the other team facing Heath Slater and Rhyno in the finals. The first match saw American Alpha defeat The Usos in less than one minute to advance. They focus on Chad Gable’s left leg, and potentially injure Gable going into Backlash.

Slater and Rhyno joined forces before the tag tournament began.

As for Chad Gable and Jason Jordan, they were put into an injury storyline for this match. That means The Usos will fight the Hype Bros in a semifinal match at Backlash, with the victor going on to face Slater & Rhyno for the titles.
