Wyoming police probe letter written by senior center shooter
According to The Washington Post, authorities say that 77-year-old Larry Rosenberg shot three people at the Heritage Court Apartments in Cheyenne on Wednesday.
Police gather evidence at the scene where a man shot three people and killed himself at a senior citizen apartment in Cheyenne, Wyo., Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016.
Matthew Wilson, 45, of Cheyenne, an employee of Heritage Court Apartments, was shot and killed outside of the apartment building. A website for the apartments describes the housing as “independent, affordable senior living” that was designed for “senior households”.
The police did not mention if they knew of any motive Rosenberg might have had to want to go on a shooting spree at the Heritage Court Apartments in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Building residents Gregory Gilbert, 65, and Larry Warwick, 74, were identified by Long as the victims who were wounded and taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.
Rose Mofford, Arizona’s first female governor and a shepherd for the state during a period of political turbulence, died Thursday, a former spokeswoman said.
One resident told the Wyoming Tribune Eagle that Rosenberg had always been upset about the poker game that ran three times a week. Long said he could not immediately confirm that Gilbert had organized the games. A witness says Rosenberg was having an argument with the victims prior to the shooting. She opened the letter later and gave it to police.
Officers did not fire any shots but say Rosenberg was in possession of a handgun and a rifle.
Officers arrived on the scene and found one man dead and two other men with gunshot wounds. The issue came up at a recent meeting at which residents told the apartment complex managers about any concerns they had, she said.
Telephone messages left seeking comment with the owner of the complex, Accessible Space Inc. of St. Paul, Minnesota, were not returned.
