X Factor’s Chloe Paige amazes Simon Cowell at bootcamp
X Factor hopeful Chloe Paige “stole the show” during her group’s audition at bootcamp.
The solo singer, who lives in Brighton but whose family are from Liverpool, was put through to the next round in tonight’s show.
Chloe, 21, performed Tina Turner’s A Fool In Love and wowed the four judges – Simon Cowell, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Nick Grimshaw and Rita Ora – despite admitting she wasn’t familiar with the song.
Contestants had to split into groups comprised of the four categories – Groups, Overs, Boys and Girls – before choosing a track to perform to the panel.
After her group’s challenge, Simon said: “I tell you who was amazing, Chloe.”
Cheryl agreed and added: “She stole the show.”
When Simon singled her out and told her: “You did amazing”, Nick added: “You owned that Chloe, that was yours.”
And when the market trader revealed she didn’t know the song before, Simon replied: “It doesn’t matter, when you are good, you’re good”.
In another group of contestants, 18-year-old Kiera Weathers and 23-year-old Kelly Mai-Webb were stuck with the whinging of sibling duo Castiello, who spent most of the time grumbling about the song they had to perform.
And the judges did not hold back in their assessment.
A bit rude, but at least everyone seemed to be having fun with Andy Taylor’s upbeat performance, and with four yeses he received his, ahem, just desserts…
Cowell gave it to them straight: “From where I’m sitting, it was like this lot had rehearsed and you turned up by accident during their audition”.
Stepping out in front of the judges is hard enough, so hats off to Anton for travelling over from Tipperary solo, and giving it his all.
Menn on Point, two friends from Ghana who’d recently moved to the United Kingdom, got a lot of airtime. And if that’s true then the music industry is looking even bleaker than we feared.
“I feel he cares more about the fame side of things”, said Rita.
Now, in an extraordinary turn of events, Walsh has attacked both Tomlinson and X-Factor. McCaul was, in his own words, “a ginger Stevie Wonder” or, as Simon put it, “a great singer but a frightful performer”.
Meanwhile Tipperary bar man Anton Banaghan who won the hearts of women everywhere with his rendition of George Ezra’s Budapest on Saturday night was also out to impress in Boot Camp.
