Xbox One preview update for February detailed, here’s whats new
In an interview with Gamespot, Microsoft’s Mike Nichols said during the time that it is possibly the most significant update in the history of Xbox One.
The good news doesn’t stop with party chat.
Suggested friends gets a change that will make it easier to see specific details about people Xbox Live thinks you may want to add as a friend. The recently changes made to Xbox One have been geared with this in mind, and the company is looking at Xbox One more as a social machine and not a gaming one.
Microsoft is also tweaking its home and pinned sections in the Xbox One dashboard.
You can rearrange pinned apps and games – they will also show up even if the Xbox One is offline.
Under Log-in View Achievements, you’ll now be able to see the revived Gamerscore Leaderboard, offering an overview of your total gamerscore, and those of your friends, as well as who’s made the biggest gains over the last 30 days.
Now that the holiday season is over, Microsoft’s Xbox One is slowly gearing up for another year in its battle with Sony’s PS4 video game console. Microsoft is teasing a few features shared in common with the Xbox app on PCs and phones, too – there’s a newly integrated Avatar Store and an Xbox news hub.
Updating Activity Feed – The activity feed on your Xbox One will now inform you when there are new items to see.
Aside from Avatars, the preview update will add several features to improve your social life on Xbox One. “We continue to evolve the Xbox experience based on your feedback and I’m excited to announce the first of a set of new features releasing in 2016”.
The Activity Feed is getting some major upgrades in the January Xbox One Update. The Xbox One update will only be available for those in the Xbox One Preview Program though, so don’t expect it if you aren’t a member. Consider friending or following publishers of content that you like.
Compact mode for Xbox App: With this update to the Xbox Beta app, we’ve moved additional functions to compact mode which will enable you to quickly switch between your friends’ view, your party, messages and activity alerts.
On both the Xbox One console and in the Xbox app, a new area for “Trending” items will be available. A quick click allows you to keep an eye on what your friends are up to, while multi-tasking on your Windows PC!
