Xbox One to add free DVR features in 2016
Are you ready for your Xbox One to get a whole lot more modern?
The contest, which will kick off later this year, will focus on the game’s frenetic, multi-player arena gameplay experience.
Microsoft showed off Mass Effect running on the Xbox One, but with Xbox One features, such as the ability to take screenshots, broadcasting, game DVR, and even streaming via the Xbox app on Windows 10.
Some good news has come from the meeting too as Microsoft noted to GameSpot that recording can be as high as 1080i, but it is reliant on the signal strength of the TV signal. The amount of content you can record ultimately depends on how big of a hard drive you purchase for use with the Xbox One.
A Microsoft spokesperson confirms you’ll only be able to record TV if you have an external hard drive.
There will be more than 100 Xbox 360 titles and hundreds more to follow, according to the tech giant.
We heard past rumours that the DVR would be available on Xbox One, but the extension to Windows 10 is surprising. Now available in preview, the November release will open up support for playing a limited (but sure to grow) selection of Xbox 360 games on the Xbox One console to everyone.
Other featured items include a Spartan-themed SteelBook, Spartan Locke’s Classified Orders, Dossiers on Blue Team and Fireteam Osiris and a 14-day trial of Xbox Live Gold. The Game Drive for Xbox is a 2 TB hard drive designed in partnership with Microsoft, aimed at making it as easy as possible to expand the console’s storage.
When Microsoft opened E3 just a couple months ago they caught everybody off guard by announcing they were bringing backwards compatibility with the Xbox 360 to the Xbox One. Gamers would be able to record TV shows subscription-free through the One using an over-the-air digital tuner.
