XCOM 2 is out today, and will natively support the Steam controller
Unfortunately, no other controllers now work with the game. Also, 2K Games announced the exact timing at which XCOM 2 will unlock (i.e. players will be able to start playing) in a different region.
In an announcement made by Firaxis and Valve, the upcoming and highly-anticipated XCOM 2 will feature native support for the Steam Controller. At the time, Creative Director Jake Solomon told IGN that the team tweaked XCOM 2’s on-screen user interface to be mouse-and-keyboard friendly.
Valve’s unconventional Steam Controller is getting some special attention from the makers of XCOM 2. The game has been launched on Steam for Linux, Mac and Windows today, February 5, 2016, and with this occasion, Valve announces the availability of a 40% bundle containing the acclaimed game and the Steam Controller device. By individual pricing, the game itself is at $60 on the Steam store, whereas the Steam Controller stands at $50.
The developers noted some new additions in XCOM 2 for those familiar with past XCOM titles, including: a unique new narrative, more varied and powerful aliens, procedurally-generated levels and modding support. If you’ve already purchased the game, but would still like the discount they also say that this should be possible through Steam.
