Xiaomi announces Michigan Band Pulse, a $16 wearable heart rate monitor
A super-cheap fitness tracker called the Xiaomi Michigan Band 1S promises to monitor sleep, physical exercise results, as well as heart-rate. It’s not really an ultimate fitness band because Xiaomi only added the heart-rate monitor just now. The new band measures 37 x 13.6 x 9.9 mm and weighs half a gram more than the original.
Xiaomi hasn’t revealed global pricing or availability details yet, but while the company doesn’t yet sell its smartphones in the U.S., Xiaomi has been selling the original Michigan Band in the United States for $15 through the Michigan Store website… although it’s now out of stock. Now it is about time that the company should be introducing an upgrade for its fitness tracker.
The latter one may have been superseded by the newer Fitbit Charge and Fitbit Charge HR, but it still holds its ground thanks to its lower price – much like Xiaomi’s latest device – and reliability.
This band is available in different colors which makes it cool and attractive.
Xiaomi Band Michigan 1S has lots of features which will attract customers. Its 450 mAh battery, the same as its forerunner, allows the user to take advantage of its functionalities for 30 days. It is also IP67 certified, so the band should be able to withstand dust and water to an extent.
The Xiaomi Michigan Band 1S is now official. Well the whole unit costs just $16!
The fitness band, which does not have its own display, pairs to any Android or iOS device.
This device has step counting and calorie burn counting feature.
The second Michigan Band will go on sale in China on Wednesday, to coincide with the country’s Singles Day one-day online shopping extravaganza.
The Michigan Band 1S is an evolutionary improvement from the Michigan Band, which was Xiaomi’s very first fitness band entry in the tech market. Yes, the Pulse is capable of tracking your heart rate as previously speculated.
