Xiaomi Mi 4 to get Windows 10 update on December 3

Avid Microsoft tech users will be delighted to know they can pre-order these phones along with a free Display Dock normally worth $123, or Rs 5,999 – as long as supplies last. He posted an image on a Chinese social network which shows a Mi 4 smartphone running Windows Mobile. Recent reports suggest Microsoft’s Surface team will take a crack at the next Windows phone, which isn’t a bad idea.

Microsoft is finally working on a Surface-branded smartphone, it’s claimed. At the time a Xiaomi spokesperson said “This is an experimental program entirely led by Microsoft, and we are happy that Mi fans with Mi4 devices in China will be able to participate and provide feedback”. Intel is supposedly co-developing a chipset for the Surface Phone that’ll surpass what Qualcomm offers, meaning the device could not only run Windows Store apps but also classic Win32 apps.

Users who updated to Microsoft’s latest Windows 10 operating system may want to recheck their settings.

With Windows 10, Microsoft has brought back the Start menu, added its Cortana voice assistant and made improvements to the entire layout and design in an effort to bring people on board. Instead, a Surface phone is on its way. Users will just have to wait for the company to detail the instructions on how to install it on the device.

As the Surface Phone is still in the early stages of development, it will be a while before it’s released.

The Surface Phone is expected to be released around May next year – to coincide with the significant Windows 10 “Redstone” update which will be rolling out around the same time (Yes, “Redstone” is a reference to Minecraft).

A Windows 10 smartphone planned for May 2016 has been cancelled, according to Windows Central, and will be replaced with a Surface Phone created by Panos Panay and the same team that forged the Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book.
