Xiaomi Mi 4 Will Officially Get Windows 10 Mobile This Week!
Now, Xiaomi Founder and President, Lin Bin posted a photo on Weibo suggesting that the Windows 10 Mobile OS for Mi 4 will be officially launched on December 3. Microsoft has actually already developed a Windows 10 Mobile ROM for Xiaomi devices, which is only available to a select group of Xiaomi users.
With that many machines running the new OS, Microsoft has reached the 15% mark in marching towards its goal of putting Windows 10 on a billion systems by mid-2018. Perhaps Microsoft was waiting for the release of its new range of Windows 10 smartphones before sending out the final version of the ROM to Xiaomi.
The arrival of Windows 10 on the Xiaomi Mi 4 will bring some proprietary features to the flagship smartphone, such as Cortana integration and a Start screen with Live tiles.
While the details are still sparse, this means that every Mi 4 user will have an option to download and run Windows 10 on their device. The tablet also has an Android variant, thus letting users choose between Windows 10 and Android. The public version is yet to be announced, but should be expected some time soon. A version of the new Mi Pad 2 will also be optionally available with Windows 10 but Xiaomi has not announced a release date for this version.
Let’s hope this concept of “Windows One” created by DeviantArt user danielskrzypon gets noticed by Microsoft and eventually used to overhaul the design of the company’s latest OS, no matter how long it takes because the design is just that good!
Four months in, Windows 10 powers approximately 148 million PCs, according to measurements released today by analytics vendor Net Applications.
