Yaya Toure scores twice on stunning return to Manchester City duty
Pep Guardiola confirmed he has welcomed Yaya Toure back into the fold at Manchester Cityfollowing the midfielder’s stunning first team return.
There was pure elation at Yaya Toure’s goal-scoring return to action for Manchester City over the weekend.
Yaya Toure returned from his Manchester City exile to score twice, inspiring the team to a 2-1 victory at Crystal Palace in the English Premier League on Saturday.
Following the November global break, Manchester City got back to winning ways on Saturday after a 2-1 road victory against Crystal Palace.
Is Yaya Toure forgiven after his two goals? .
“I belong to the field and I’m very happy to be in there. He’s another guy who will help us with the rotation in the team”.
“The last month and a half, Yaya was awesome in training”, Guardiola explained.
Reid does believe City are doing well under the Spaniard and has been impressed with their attacking play, but is yet to be convinced by the Blues’ defending, and says they still need several new signings – including a replacement for Bravo. “Sometimes it can happen once, but when it happens often, in the end you are going to lose”. We were not brilliant.
Guardiola himself did not issue an apology but all politics aside he knows that Toure is a quality player and one that can help City mount a title challenge.
Guardiola had picked Toure in only one of City’s previous 19 games this season – a Champions League qualifying play-off second leg against Steaua Bucharest in August that was a virtual dead rubber after City had won the first game 6-0.
But it was Toure who let his football do the talking by scoring the victor seven minutes from time to earn the visitors only their second win in the league from their last six games and condemn Palace to a fifth straight defeat.
“But, knowing the man I was not surprised to see him achieving the game he played at Palace because he was always respectful to everyone, always professional, and he is always the first one to try to play football, his football”.
“I am more satisfied when we play against Middlesbrough for example, against Everton, even Tottenham in the second half, than today, but you have to win”.
“We need to come to training on Monday and fight and just get ready for that big game”.
Toure combined with Nolito before firing City ahead in the first half before Palace’s pressure paid off when Wilfried Zaha set up substitute Connor Wickham to smash home a second-half equaliser.
Kevin de Bruyne has provided more assists than any other Premier League player this season (7).
