Year-old gets opportunity to coach Panthers
Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton started Friday night being coached by a 6-year-old.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central & Western North Carolina then helped make that dream come true and Beam signed his one day deal in June that led to his coaching debut this week.
Later, in a team meeting, Beam offered these words to the players and staff: “Be courageous, be positive, never give up, have a heart, go Cats”.
Panthers coach Braylon Beam hanging out with his buddy Ron Rivera. Beam even did his own version of Newton’s trademark touchdown celebration, which ended up getting a huge cheer from the 55,000 strong crowd in attendance. It occurred at Beam’s faculty in entrance of his pals and academics in close by Denver, North Carolina.
Beam is now undergoing treatment at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte for a tumor on his optic nerve.
Beam said before practice his goal was to make sure the Panthers threw deep to Kelvin Benjamin and Greg Olsen.
After the practice, Newton spotted U.S. Army Sgt. The six-year-old, who has been battling cancer since February, became a national celebrity by launching the #JustKeepDancing movement – a campaign that scored him a guest spot on Ellen.
“You want as many good days as you can”, his father Jesse Beam said.
Thousands of fans flooded Bank of America Stadium for Fan Fest to see the Panthers practice for the first time this season. His power has been an inspiration to many who’ve heard his story and watched him dance.
Life has not been easy for Braylon but he does have his moments including fan fest, which he said was the best day of his life.
