Year’s third case of West Nile virus confirmed in Oklahoma
Of 2,212 pools submitted for testing in Colorado, Larimer County had 70 West Nile virus infected mosquitoes in 2014.
The two mosquito-borne illnesses of concern are West Nile Virus and Eastern Equine Encephalitis, according to Dr. Hermos, assistant professor of pediatrics. In addition, the department notes that mosquitoes carrying the virus usually bite at dawn and dusk and recommended limiting outdoor activities during those times.

Officials have stated that operations to detect mosquitoes having the virus will continue to take place throughout the district. The most vulnerable people are those who are at least 50 or have weakened immune systems. About 1 in 5 people who are infected will develop a fever with other symptoms.
