Yellow ‘be aware’ warning for rain for Wales
A warning is also in place for Wednesday, with further slow-moving bands of heavy rain likely to continue.
In their South West summary, the Met Office said: “Remaining windy throughout, especially in exposed coastal areas, with rather cloudy skies and scattered showers, locally heavy and possibly thundery at times”.
It has issued a yellow “be aware” warning which is in place until midnight.
The light winds mean that the downpours will be slow-moving as well as intense in a few regions, with the possibility of 15 mm or more falling in less than an hour.
THERE could be thundery showers this evening as the Met Office issues a severe weather warning for Bristol.
There had been concerns that Joaquin – which brought the worst floods in 1,000 years to parts of America – could make landfall with the UK.
The rest of the week is shaping up to be much drier, with sunny spells predicted come the weekend.
But the heavy rain is expected to clear by early tomorrow, with a “marked improvement by Thursday into Friday when a ridge of high pressure is building up”.
