Yemen’s PM, exiled government return to Aden: spokesman
The Saudi-led anti-Houthi campaign, which came at Hadi’s request, seeks to restore the internationally recognized president and his government to power and has been ongoing since March 26.
The fight for Yemen is split along sectarian lines.
He said that he sees the cabinet reshuffle, which was conducted by Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, “in the context of reforming the government’s work”. “Iran won’t stop until it spreads its Persian empire over everywhere here”, a young soldier from Dubai named Salem told Reuters.
Badi said Ould Cheikh Ahmed had verbally conveyed to the Yemeni government the Houthis’ acceptance of the resolution, apart from one article about sanctions. “It will never be a stable state otherwise”.
Yemeni Prime Minister Khaled Bahah returned to the southern port of Aden on Wednesday in a step towards restoring a government on home soil after months of working from exile with Gulf Arab allies to combat Houthi domination of the country. “In fact it’s four to five distinct groups that are all masters of their own fate”.
The government had found refugee in Saudi Arabia. The two parts of the country are now deeply split, and the setting up of a rival government in the south does not make reconciliation appear likely.
Members of Yemen’s Houthi Ansarullah movement, backed by fighters from allied Popular Committees, have reportedly managed to wrest complete control of a town in Saudi Arabia’s southwestern Asir region.
During a news conference held at an Aden hotel on Wednesday, government spokesman Rajeh Badi reportedly said that “the security file, reconstruction and incorporating the southern resistance into the army” were at the top of the government’s agenda, according to the local Aden al-Ghad news website. It is not clear if President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi will follow suit.
