He said: “In memory of David Bowie we would like everyone in the world who was ever touched by his art to play “Starman” at 12 noon tomorrow Saturday January 16″.

The image recognition and augmented reality app Blippar is allowing David Bowie fans to pay tribute to the late singer by allowing them to create and share selfies of themselves as Ziggy Stardust. Bowie died Sunday at age 69 after battling cancer for 18 months. Around the middle of 2015, Bowie said he was in remission “for now”, but, Visconti recalls, “in November, it just suddenly came back”.
“And I was thrilled, and I thought, and he thought, that he’d have a few months, at least”, Visconti told Rolling Stone.
Bowie’s death has triggered an outpouring of mourning, with fans around the world leaving flowers, candles and glitter on sites associated with the artist and leading musicians including Elton John and Madonna covering his songs live.
David Bowie’s death will be marked by his family with a private funeral, they announced on Thursday.
Thousands of miles away, in NY, a tribute concert is planned at Carnegie Hall on March 31.
