You can now buy Cardboard directly from Google
The Google Store is the place to go to when you want to buy Nexus phones and tablets, Chromecasts, and other Google goods. Now, however, the company has allowed fans to purchase the product directly from their web store.
Google’s finally seen the light and launched a virtual reality (VR) category for its online store.
For some inexplicable reason, given it’s only a piece of cardboard with some plastic lenses, Cardboard is not available in all countries, but folks in the US can pick it up now. Google is here to help you experience the VR world in the cheapest way possible. It even comes with a microfiber bag and is compatible with 4- to 6-inch Apple and Android smartphones.
The offer Google is making ready in its store is joining a new VR section that highlights the Mattel View Master and other VR gear. Priced at $30, the product is not available for purchase as of now.
Pretty slim pickings for VR enthusiasts, but a step in the right direction from Google.
The Mattel View-Master VR Starter Pac is made especially for kids. LG is not too far behind either, having already developed a prototype of their own VR headset. Created by Damien Henry and David Coz, it is supposed to pique people’s interest and curiosity in AR and VR applications.
