You Can Play A ‘Real-Life’ First-Person Shooting Game On Chatroulette
A man named David Reynolds created the first ever IRL first person shooting game – and then invited unsuspecting people on Chatroulette to play it. Considering that the live feed was transmitting to a zombie with a router no further than 30 feet away and you have a Youtube video that definitely earns its viewership.
Games are gaining higher and higher fidelity in graphics, but what if you could actually control your character by telling them what to do in real time… and in real life? After typing in start, the experience becomes entirely user influenced – as he tells the main character what to do, guiding him through a surprisingly well constructed zombie apocalypse setting. In one instance, one user asks if he can get to the top, and the main character says “I can try and jump!” as he proceeds to jump and the Chatroulette user responds with a nonchalant “Nope, okay…”
The rest of the game unfolds in classic exploration survival style, picking up weapons and items, killing zombies, meeting with roadblocks and barricades, opening up boxes, and even stumbling upon a boss battle, all accompanied by perfectly timed sound effects. A British-based studio did something pretty awesome. All the while, a team of actors working alongside a team of tech producers pulled off what can only be described as video magic that has to be seen to be believed.
