Youm-e-Ashur observed across country peacefully
Ashura processions in Jammu passed through Lakhadata Bazar, Kanak Mandi, Rajinder Bazar and Shaheedi Chowk. Two main mourning processions were held in the city and cantonment areas of the provincial capital, respectively.
The processions of ninth Muharram being taken out under stringent security in cities and towns across Pakistan on Friday, ARY News reported. They joined the main procession that passed through different routes of the city.
The speakers threw light on the sacrifices of the martyrs of Karbala. Talking to a group of journalists, he expressed satisfaction at the security arrangements.
Mobile phone services will be suspended across Punjab and Sindh on 10th Muharram from morning to night. Volunteers from different organisations of the Shia community also provided security to the processions.
In Islamabad, the central procession started at Imam Bargah Isna Ashri G6-2 and was attended by a large number of mourners.
Ashura was observed across the country peacefully, as mourners paid tributes to the supreme sacrifices offered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his seventy-two diehard companions against a tyrant ruler in Karbala, Iraq. Pak-Afghan border also remained closed as precautionary step for failsafe security.
Hundreds of Sabeels of milk and sherbat are being set up along traditional routes of the processions on Ashura.
KOHAT: The mourning procession appeared from the Qaumi Imambargah on Yaum-e-Ashur.
In Leh and Kargil, thousands of mourners participated in Taziya processions.
The mourning procession after passing through the traditional routes culminated at Ghazi Aleem tomb.
Due to security reasons, Metro Bus Authority (MBA) will not operate metro bus service in Lahore and Rawalpindi on Saturday, however, police and law enforcement agencies can use metro corridor for surveillance during Muharram holidays.
In Karachi the main procession was taken out from Nishtar Park.
The mourners after passing through the traditional routes culminated at Central Imambargah.
In the city of Burewala the Alam, Tazia and Zuljinah possession was taken out from Markazi Imambargah Hussainia under the aegis of the Anjuman-e-Haideria on Saturday.
The district administration led by Deputy Commissioner Ch Amjad Iqbal, Senior Superintendent Police Raja Irfan Salim, Assistant Commissioner Raja Qaiser Aurangzeb Khan, DSP City Raja Azher Iqbal, ADC (G) Ch Haq Nawaz and other senior officers, had made convoluted security arrangements to ensure peace and harmony during the entire course and events of Youm-e-Ashura. Policemen were deployed on Bigut Gunj Bazaar, Bank Road and Shamsi Road. Speaking on the occasion, Peer Syed Waseemul Hassan Naqvi urged the people to follow the teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) for living a successful life.
They stressed the need for promoting brotherhood, tolerance and patience.
