Younis becomes Pakistan’s highest Test run getter
“I am not satisfied yet and I don’t want to be complacent with these records”.
The veteran batsman is in great nick, having smashed a brilliant undefeated 171 in Pakistan’s last Test against Sri Lanka at Pallekele in July.
Younis made his Test debut against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi in February 2000.
Miandad added that Younis has always been a good student of the game.
“No one can predict what happens the next day or next week but I have my sights on scoring 10,000 runs and getting more hundreds not for myself but for my country”.
“I think it was the most fitting way for Tendulkar to end his career and I would like the same to happen to me”.
“He has been around for 15 years now and he has really performed well”.
The 37-year-old Younis, on Tuesday, became Pakistan’s leading run scorer in Test history. He averaged over 54 before the start of today’s match. “The number of records he has set in the recent past is something we as a nation can take great pride in”, said Shaharyar.
Younis talked about the need for the culture to change in Pakistan cricket.
“I congratulate him on rewriting the record books in becoming the highest run-getter for Pakistan”.
Chairman, Executive Committee Najam Aziz Sethi was also proud of Younis. “Now that he is in the team, he has made the most of that opportunity”, said Khan.
His public disclosure forced the PCB to quietly acknowledge that its office had bungled in not sending a proper invitation to Younis for the logo launch ceremony.
Younis, though, deserves his place alongside those greats as his record is comparable.
Malik’s inclusion in the test team, which came after almost five years, looked to be the biggest motivator for him as he notched a century even as he put up a 168-run second-wicket stand with Hafeez.
