‘Your ego becomes extremely inflated’: Leah Remini slams Scientology
In the 20/20 clip, it’s explained that her mother brought her into the church as a child, and after joining she was quickly brought “on course”.
Leah Remini has seemingly set her sights on Tom Cruise in her ongoing battle with Scientology church leaders.
Earlier this week, Leah Remini opened up about why she left the Church of Scientology in the sort of scathing interview that’s now common amongst CoS defectors.
Speaking on ABC’s 20/20, she said: “Your ego becomes extremely inflated”. ABC News’ Dan Harris, who conducted the interview with Remini, told Robin Roberts and the co-hosts of Good Morning America on Friday morning that the Dawson’s Creek actress will make an appearance on the special. “And because Scientologists view children as spiritual beings, you’re not treated as a kid”.
The book details her decision to leave the church in 2013, which she understood meant leaving behind everything that was once central to her identity.
Remini also says she was once forced to “physically act out the sexual policy” of the church by “rubbing together” items found in an office.
“The decision to leave is you’re giving up everything you have ever known, and everything you have ever worked for your whole life”, she reveals.
Despite her hard-hitting claims against the church, Remini maintains that her efforts to tell the cold, hard truth are simply to be understood. “I feel that people need to understand this has been my whole life”.
