Your Windows is at fatal risk, download this critical update by Microsoft

Microsoft will keep issuing security patches for Windows 7 until January 2020 and for Windows 8 until January 2023. Microsoft credited security company FireEye’s Genwei Jiang and Mateusz Jurczyk, part of Google’s Project Zero security squad, for finding the flaw and reporting it.

Microsoft are keen to point out that there is no evidence that this security blunder has been exploited yet. For organizations where immediate patching isn’t an option, Microsoft’s advisory recommended several workarounds. “Customers who have automatic updates enabled or apply the update will be protected”, the firm advised. The patch is now available over Windows Update.

However, Microsoft said analysis has shown that exploit code could be created in such a way that an attacker could consistently exploit this vulnerability.
