YouTube Is Getting Rid of the 301+ Counter Glitch
Once the validation process was completed in a few hours, YouTube starts showing the actual view count.
That’s because Google, who owns the web site, want to make sure that when a video gets popular, all the views it gets are real. The view count on YouTube is a reflection of the video’s popularity (with the PSY Gangnam Style video is almost at 2.4 billion views). As to why they chose that number, it has to do with how much they thought the database could handle without a problem.
“Now, we count views we’re confident come from real people as they’re recorded, and keep reviewing the rest,” YouTube wrote in the attached graphic.
So, times they are a-changing, no more bragging about being among the lucky first 301 viewers. Now, through an infographic on the YouTube Creators Twitter account, they have shared that the views stopping at 301 is now a thing of the past.
