The social show star pranked Vine stars Sam & Colby by kidnapping them & pretending to homicide Colby, who was in on the whole entire thing.
The next scene sees him tied to a chair on a rooftop location while the assassin Sam Pepper appears to shoot his best friend of five years – Colby – in the head. The YouTuber and former Big Brother contestant Sam Pepper has received furious backlash over a “prank” where a man is led to believe his friend was murdered in front of him. It was a prank, man! I love you bro.
Some people have demanded the video be taken down and a petition has been started calling for YouTube to deactivate Sam Pepper’s channel. It’s a pretty specific message.
One person wrote: “The disgusting “prank” sam pepper pulled is actually really triggering and painful to watch i cant believe the sense of humour that boy has”.
Newsbeat has contacted Sam Pepper for a response. He has over 1 million followers on Twitter.
The clip ends with Colby getting up and trying to comfort a seemingly shaken Sam, who apparently is his “best friend of five years”. No matter how much YouTube likes to distance itself from its content creators, they and their parent company Google are Sam Pepper’s employers, and as such they are allowing one of their employees to make a lucrative living by being an very bad person.
However, the young man pranked in the video has made a statement to say he was “honestly not mad”.
