YU launches flagship Yutopia along with ‘AroundYu’ discovery app

Yu Televentures, the fully owned subsidiary of Micromax, has today launched its new smartphone dubbed as Yu Yutopia, at a launch event in New Delhi.

The new device Yu Yutopia which is aimed at the high-end smartphone market comes with top line specifications.

It is priced at Rs. 24,999 in India and will be available exclusively via Amazon. The phone also includes a new service called “Around YU”, which integrates multiple services in collaboration with companies like Zomato for ordering food, Scandid for shopping, Ixigo for travel bookings, Ola, Taxi for Sure and Easy Cabs for booking cabs.

Speaking about the specs, the Yu Yutopia flaunts a 5.2-inch QHD (1440×2560 pixels) Sharp OGS TP OGS display, with a pixel density of a 565 ppi. Phone comes with 32GB internal memory and is expandable via microSD card. Let’s take a glance at what we know so far about the forthcoming Yu Yutopia.

Processing power is provided by the 64-bit QualComm Snapdragon 810 Chipset(2GHz Cortex-A57 quad-core coupled with 1.5GHz Cortex-A53 quad-core) combined with a segment topping RAM of 4GB DDR4. Talking about the camera, it has a 21MP ExmorRS IMX230 sensor with both PDAF and OIS that can record videos in 4K resolution.

The phone- touted as the world’s most powerful phone- was earlier planned for a December 7 launch in India. The phone supports Qualcomm QuickCharge 2.0 for fast charging. For selfie lovers, it has an 8MP front-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture and 86-degree wide angle lens.

The phone features DTS sound and Yu is offering Little Bird in-ear headphones by House of Marley in the box.

The Yutopia heralds with the usual set of connectivity features including the Dual SIM 4G support and the USB-C.

YU has also introduced an “Assured Upgrade Program” that will give any customer buying YUTOPIA an option of an assured upgrade YUTOPIA 2 in the future.

Powered by the Cyanogen 12.1 Android Lollipop custom skin, the phone features a rear fingerprint sensor that can be used for one-tap wake up or selfie capturing.
