Zac Efron and Emily Ratajkowski Play “Beat the Intro” For Cosmopolitan UK

In a hilarious (and rather shocking) interview, the We Are Your Friends star couldn’t remember “Breaking Free”, the song from the Disney Channel Original Movie that stole our hearts and made us fall in love with Zac and Vanessa Hudgens! So it only makes sense that when Cosmopolitan UK asked him to name a song from the first HSM as part of a speed song-naming game with Emily Ratajkowksi and Max Joseph, he was unable to identify Troy and Gabriella’s duet “Breaking Free”.

Zac showed his embarrassment, but did so with pride and confidence, noting: ‘ Not knowing the names of Blurred Lines and High School Musical…I think we nailed it’.

It started off quite well as the trio managed to guess Beyonce’s Drunk In Love and Justice’s We Are Your Friends.

Cosmopolitan UK then played “Breaking Free” from the “High School Musical“. Efron said in his defense. He and co-stars Ratajkowski and Joseph had no single clue about One Direction’s “Steal My Girl” not even with Cosmo’s prodding that the song is actually from “one of the biggest band’s in the world guys!”

So while he may not be able to “break free” from this moment, he did redeem himself by correctly guessing “Macarena” right away. “There’s three movies of songs!”

In fairness to Efron it has already been ten years since the success of “High School Musical“. “That song should be on your iPod on repeat”.
