Zack Snyder Says Batman v Superman Is A Sequel, Get The Details
According to cinemablend.com, when asked about Steven Spielberg’s comments on the eventual decline of the superhero movie genre, the director famously known for “300” and “Man of Steel” said “I feel like he’s right”.
Henry Cavill will play Superman in Zack Snyder‘s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice“. The filmmaker also mentioned that “Justice League” is a supreme and “knights-of-the-round-table” story that it would be interesting to reflect on what a separate “Man of Steel” film might be. The film itself actually began its life as a direct sequel to Man of Steel, but over time evolved into a melee between the World’s Finest. That’s a shame, really, because we still haven’t seen a good film starring the Metropolis Marvel since Richard Donner’s Superman ’78.
Only in that because it’s a different Batman than the Batman that was in the Chris Nolan movies, so we have a little bit more explaining to do-and you just had a whole Superman movie.
As he continues his promotional duties for the 10th annual Doritos Crash the Super Bowl competition, director Zack Snyder sheds more light (via Canoe) on the ever-evolving saga of whether or not Warner Bros.
This shouldn’t come as a huge surprise, as Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice heavily draws from Man of Steel’s continuity and events – as evidenced by the trailer and marketing.
CinemaBlend seems to agree with Snyder. “And I think that’s compelling”.
When they announced Batman v Superman at SDCC 2 years ago it surprised the Hall H crowd because we all expected the announcement of Man of Steel 2. That’s great. Way to do something original.’ But I would say we’re still making something very original in our own way.
Debates still go on despite the defense of Affleck’s co-stars, and until his Batman proves to nail it when the movie releases on March 25, 2016, fans might not completely agree with the idea of an aged and mature Batman. Snyder will then move into the two Justice League movies, due out in 2017 and 2019.
