Zaheer Khan retires from worldwide cricket
Indian former cricketer Zaheer Khan he is best seamers of India Cricket team, who is also a member of the Indian national cricket team.
Rajeev Shukla’s announcement on Twitter on Thursday that Zaheer Khan, India’s pace spearhead during the 2000s, will be retiring sent cricket fans into the realms of nostalgia.
“Congratulations to @ImZaheer on a fantastic global career!”, the worldwide Cricket Council (ICC) said.
Khan, who has been part of the Indian team since 2000, has played in 92 Test matches, 200 One-Day internationals and 17 Twenty20 Internationals.
Zaheer finishes his Test career with an average of 32.94 and ODI career with 282 wickets at 29.43.
India’s long search for a pace bowler with venom and swing had finally borne fruit.
In whites, Zaheer played 92 matches and picked 311 wickets. Zaheer took 21 wickets within the event, ending joint highest wicket-taker with Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi. He made full use of his knowledge of conditions picking 18 wickets in three Test matches with a haul of 9/134 in India’s series winning victory.
Starting out as a rapid youngster capable of bowling yorkers (a rare trait for Indian pacers), Zak (as he’s affectionately called in cricketing circles) had a hot-n-cold first few years where his form, fitness and attitude were questioned. He wrote about his journey from being a kid in a small town named Shrirampur in Maharashtra to his greatest cricketing moment of lifting the 2011 Cricket World Cup.
