Zayn Malik cancels second show in three months due to anxiety
Zayn Malik chose to cancel an upcoming gig in Dubai, which was scheduled for October, due to severe anxiety problems.
Malik had been due to play at the Autism Rocks event in Dubai on October 7 but said he was not confident enough to take to the stage.
The heart-throb was meant to perform at the Autism Rocks Arena in October but he has admitted he does not feel “sufficiently confident”.
Concert organisers have said ticket holders will get a full refund for the cancelled show, the BBC reported.
“Unfortunately my anxiety that has haunted me throughout the last few months around live performances has gotten the better of me”, he posted on social media at the time.
“I hope Zayn is ok, anxiety is such a s*** thing and I hope he puts himself and his health first”, one user wrote. I am truly sorry to disappoint you.
While fans were disappointed, many -particularly those who could empathize – offered support and understanding.
This past June, Malik cancelled his scheduled appearance at Capital FM’s Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium in London.
Added [executive producer] Noelle Wolf: ‘We were intrigued by the synergistic potential that Zayn brings to the project.
Gigi has remained by Zayn’s side through his troubles. Following the cancelation the singer revealed his struggles with anxiety for the first time.
Malik rose to prominence on “The X Factor” in the United Kingdom when Simon Cowell formed the boy band One Direction, along with Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, and Louis Tomlinson.
And now the former One Direction star has been forced to cancel his second concert this year as a result the condition.
“Dick Wolf is a legend”, Malik said in the statement, “and the opportunity to work with him and NBC to create a compelling drama series is awesome”.
