Zidane equals Mourinho’s unbeaten record away as Madrid coach
As they come to terms with the disappointment of Saturday’s Clasico draw against Real Madrid, Barcelona are facing mounting complaints that their famous possession based style of play is being sacrificed. Even the draws are feeling like victories.
Sergio Ramos celebrates his equaliser against Barcelona.
“What stands out for me is the work of the whole team”, Zidane added. He said: “It’s clear that we should not give away fouls especially when the Madrid player has his back to goal”.
“We did everything we could to take the three points”.
Luis Suarez’s glancing header from Neymar’s left-wing free-kick put FC Barcelona ahead at the Nou Camp.
“In the second half, we were the better side, but we didn’t manage to get the second (goal) and they ended up equalising”.
A draw means Real maintain a huge six-point buffer at the top of La Liga. We kept believing right until the end. “It is vital that we remain leaders and we don’t let up, we must keep going like this”.
A man for the big occasion, Ramos also scored in last season’s Champions League final, also against Atletico.
Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane praised the late fightback, telling journalists that it was emblematic of “the heart of this team”.
Barcelona defender Gerard Pique also insists there is a long way to go in the title fight yet and called for calm.
Despite having Andres Iniesta cleared to play from a right-knee injury hours before the match, Barcelona coach Luis Enrique chose to keep faith in the same starting 11 that was thoroughly outplayed in last weekend’s stumble at Real Sociedad.
“We weren’t as efficient as we could have been, but a point is better than nothing and allows us to keep the advantage in the league”.
Barca still had one final chance to snatch all three points, but Sergi Roberto’s looping header was cleared off the line as a first La Liga title in five seasons edged closer for Real.
While Barcelona still has a chance of winning the league, Real has continues their unbeaten run to 33 games in all competitions.

They endured a mid-season slump shortly after returning from the Club World Cup, and the European champions will be intent on not letting history repeat itself.
