Zimbabwe Moves To Extradite Cecil The Lion’s Killer Dentist

The Guardian reports that Zimbabwe’s minister for environment, water and climate, Oppah Muchinguri, announced the call for Palmer’s extradition in a press conference this morning.

Palmer has admitted to killing the 13-year-old lion, saying he regrets killing such an important animal, but he believe his actions were above-board since he paid the guides.

Though the White House has agreed to look over an extradition petition that has already garnered 120,000 signatures, lawyer Alec Muchadehama says it may not be as easy as it seems.

Muchinguri also believes Palmer should be penalized for the hunt’s potential to tarnish the image of Zimbabwe and further strain the relationship between Zimbabwe and the US.
